As an integral part of the IEEE Rural Electric Power Committee, our NESC, Job Training, and Safety Subcommittee focuses on the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), job training initiatives, and safety standards specific to rural electrification. We strive to create a framework that ensures the highest level of safety while promoting continuous learning and development within the industry.

Key Areas of Focus

  1. National Electrical Safety Code (NESC):
    • Implementation of NESC standards for rural electric power systems.
    • Develop Interpretation Requests (IR’s) for the IEEE NESC Standards Committee when needed.
    • Collaborate on Change Proposals (CP’s) and revisions sent to the IEEE NESC Standards Committee, to address the evolving needs of the industry.
  2. Job Training Initiatives:
    • Develop and promote job training programs tailored to the unique challenges of the rural power sector.
    • Provide resources and support for professionals seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  3. Safety Standards:
    • Establish and uphold safety standards that prioritize the well-being of workers and the community.
    • Collaborate with industry stakeholders to address emerging safety concerns and implement best practices.
